AI & Technology Disclosure
We use artificial intelligence to prepare your assessment. This page explains exactly how, what the AI does, what it doesn't do, what happens to your information, and why we built it this way.
The short version
Your assessment is prepared using Vera's AI-assisted methodology, applied consistently to every pet, and every recommendation is reviewed by a human before it's delivered.
What the AI does
When you complete an assessment, AI tools help us:
- analyse the information you provide about your pet, breed, age, medical history and circumstances
- apply our evaluation framework to the leading pet insurance policies available in Singapore: coverage, exclusions, annual limits and sub-limits, waiting periods, co-insurance, hereditary and breed-specific terms, and premium sustainability
- draft the written recommendation and the reasoning behind it
Using AI for this work has a specific benefit: consistency. The same framework is applied the same way to every pet, every time. Two customers with identical circumstances get the same analysis, not different answers depending on who happened to handle their file.
What the AI doesn't do
- It doesn't deliver a verdict on its own. Every recommendation is reviewed by a human before it reaches you.
- It doesn't improvise. The AI applies our published methodology, see How We Make Recommendations. It doesn't invent criteria, and commercial arrangements play no part in its analysis.
- It doesn't sell. The AI has no incentive, because we have no incentive: the fee is fixed and paid before the recommendation is prepared. Sometimes the output is "don't insure", and that recommendation ships like any other.
What happens to your information
To prepare your assessment, the information you provide, including details about your pet, is processed by the AI service providers whose technology we use. This happens under terms that restrict the use of your data to providing the service to us. Some of these providers process data outside Singapore; where they do, we take the steps required under the PDPA to ensure your data receives a comparable standard of protection.
We don't use your pet's medical history for marketing, and we don't sell your data. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Record-keeping
For every assessment we keep a record of when it was prepared, the information it relied on, and the recommendation delivered. If you ever question a recommendation, we'll review it with you. See our Complaints Policy.
The limits, stated plainly
AI-assisted or not, an assessment is advice, not a guarantee:
- It's based on the information you provide and the policy terms available at the time of assessment.
- Insurers change their policies, premiums and underwriting, and each insurer decides for itself whether to accept an application and on what terms.
- The insurer's policy wording, not our summary of it, is the legally binding document.
