Privacy Policy
Vera is a trading name of Delegate Pte. Ltd. (UEN 201511320E), a company incorporated in Singapore ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect your personal data in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 of Singapore (PDPA).
We've written this in plain English on purpose. If anything is unclear, write to us at vera@vera-pets.co.
1. What we collect
Information about you - Name and email address - Contact details you choose to provide - Payment information (processed by Stripe, see Section 5) - Records of your correspondence with us
Information about your pet - Breed, age, sex and neutering status - Medical history, pre-existing conditions and vet records you share - Lifestyle information relevant to insurance suitability
Information about your pet is not personal data in itself, but because it is linked to you, we treat it with the same care as your personal data.
Information collected automatically - Device and browser information - IP address and approximate location - Pages visited and how you interact with our site (see our Cookie Policy)
2. How we use your data
We collect and use your data to:
- prepare your pet insurance assessment and recommendation
- communicate with you about your assessment
- process payment for our advisory service
- respond to questions, feedback and complaints
- improve our service, methodology and website
- meet our legal and regulatory obligations
- prevent fraud and misuse of our service
How assessments are prepared. Your assessment is prepared using Vera's AI-assisted methodology: the information you provide is analysed with the help of artificial intelligence tools, applied consistently to every pet, and every recommendation is reviewed by a human before it is delivered to you.
We rely on your consent, which you give when you submit your details, and on other bases permitted under the PDPA (for example, where use is necessary to perform our service for you or to comply with law).
3. What we don't do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not share your data with insurers unless you ask us to, or it is necessary to arrange a policy you have chosen to proceed with.
- We do not use your pet's medical history for marketing.
4. Who we share data with
We share data only where necessary to run our service:
- Gigacover Pte. Ltd. (UEN 201619282D), through which insurance advisory services are provided, where required to prepare or deliver your recommendation or to arrange insurance you choose to purchase
- Stripe, our payment processor (see Section 5)
- AI service providers, whose language-model technology we use to help prepare your assessment. They process your assessment details (including information about your pet) on our behalf, under terms that restrict use of your data to providing the service to us
- Service providers such as hosting, analytics and email providers, who process data on our behalf under contractual obligations of confidentiality and security
- Insurers, only if you decide to proceed with a policy and authorise us to share the relevant details
- Professional advisers, regulators or authorities, where required by law
5. Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card details. Stripe processes your payment data in accordance with its own privacy policy, available at stripe.com/privacy. Stripe may process data outside Singapore; it is certified to standards recognised as providing comparable protection.
6. Overseas transfers
Some of our service providers (including Stripe, our AI service providers, and cloud hosting or analytics providers) store or process data outside Singapore. Where personal data is transferred overseas, we take steps required under the PDPA to ensure it receives a standard of protection comparable to the PDPA, such as contractual safeguards.
7. How long we keep your data
We retain personal data only as long as needed for the purposes described above or as required by law, then securely delete or anonymise it. As a guide:
- Assessment records and correspondence: up to 7 years, reflecting limitation periods and record-keeping obligations relevant to financial advisory services
- Payment records: as required for tax and accounting purposes
- Analytics data: in aggregated or anonymised form
8. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers. No system is perfectly secure, but we take our responsibility to protect your data seriously.
9. Your rights
Under the PDPA you may:
- Access the personal data we hold about you and ask how it has been used or disclosed in the past year
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Withdraw consent to our collection, use or disclosure of your data
To exercise any of these rights, email vera@vera-pets.co. We will respond within the timeframes required by the PDPA. If you withdraw consent, we may no longer be able to provide our service to you, and we will tell you the likely consequences before acting on your request.
10. Marketing
We will only send you marketing messages if you have agreed to receive them, and you can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link or by emailing us. We comply with the Do Not Call provisions of the PDPA and the Spam Control Act.
11. Children
Our service is intended for individuals aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a revised date, and notify you of material changes where appropriate.
