FAQ
About the service
What exactly do I get? A written recommendation prepared for your pet. You tell us about your dog, breed, age, medical history, circumstances, and we review the leading pet insurance policies available in Singapore against a consistent methodology. You receive our recommendation and the reasoning behind it.
Will you always recommend a policy? No. Sometimes the honest answer is a specific policy. Sometimes it's a different insurer than you expected. And sometimes it's that insurance isn't worth it for your pet right now, because of exclusions, pre-existing conditions, or simple economics. The fee is the same in every case, so we have no reason to push you toward a purchase.
Is my verdict written by AI? It's prepared using Vera's AI-assisted methodology: AI tools analyse the information you provide and apply our published evaluation framework, the same way, to every pet, and every recommendation is reviewed by a human before it's delivered to you. We use AI for consistency, not as a shortcut. Full details on our AI & Technology page.
Do you review every insurer in Singapore? We review the leading pet insurance policies currently available in Singapore. Our Methodology page explains what we evaluate and how.
How is this different from a comparison website? Comparison sites are typically free to you and paid by insurers. We're paid by you, once, up front. Our recommendation is prepared before any purchase decision and doesn't change based on commercial arrangements. See Editorial Independence.
About the recommendation
Is the recommendation guaranteed? No recommendation can be. Ours is based on the information you provide and the policy terms available at the time of assessment. Insurers change their policies and premiums, and each insurer decides for itself whether to accept an application and on what terms.
What if my pet has a pre-existing condition? Tell us. This is exactly where honest advice matters most, pre-existing condition exclusions are the most common reason pet insurance disappoints. We'll factor it into the assessment, and if coverage wouldn't be worthwhile, we'll say so.
What if I disagree with the recommendation? The decision is always yours. The recommendation is advice, not an instruction. If you think we've made an error, contact us within 14 days, see our Refund Policy.
Payment and refunds
How much does it cost? One fixed fee of S$39. No subscription, no recurring charges, no obligation to buy anything.
Can I get a refund? Yes, in full, any time before your assessment is delivered. After delivery, we refund in full if we made a material error or failed to deliver as described. Full details in the Refund Policy.
How do I pay? By card, processed securely by Stripe. We don't store your card details.
Buying insurance
Can I buy insurance through Vera? If you choose to proceed with a recommended policy, we can help you take the next step. Insurance advisory services are provided through Gigacover Pte. Ltd. in accordance with its applicable regulatory arrangements, see Regulatory Information. You're also free to take your recommendation and buy directly from any insurer, or not buy at all.
Does Vera issue the policy? No. Vera is not an insurer. Your policy, if you buy one, is a contract between you and the insurer, on the insurer's terms. Always read the policy wording, it's the binding document.
What the assessment is not
Is the health information in my report veterinary advice? No. We describe the risks common to your pet's breed at its age, and what those conditions typically cost to treat, drawn from published breed and market references. That is general reference about the breed, not a veterinary assessment of your pet, and the costs are typical ranges, not quotes for your pet's care. We are not a veterinary practice. For anything about your pet's health, speak to your vet.
My dog is a Specified Dog. Does the report cover the legal requirement? Yes, we report it. Singapore law requires owners of Specified Dogs (including German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Dobermans, Bull Terriers and mastiffs, and crosses of them) to hold third-party liability insurance of at least S$100,000, which is a different thing from the health cover we assess. Where this applies, our report states the requirement, cites the AVS source, and shows which policies carry that cover. But we are reporting a published rule, not giving legal advice. We are not a law firm and we cannot grant or interpret a licence. Confirm the current requirements with AVS (avs.nparks.gov.sg) before you rely on anything.
Will you tell me what the premium is? No, and we will not guess. A policy wording does not contain a premium, the insurer sets it at quote time for your individual pet. So we assess how the cost is structured (co-insurance bands, deductibles, renewal caps) but we never state or estimate the price. If you see a premium figure in a Vera report, it should not be there, and we would like to know.
